SEAN SPECTOR
Sean Spector is the co-founder of Gamefly. He is an American online video game rental subscription service that specializes in providing games for game consoles and handheld game consoles. The company’s cofounder is betting that the cost of the next-gen console war will be a boon for his rental service, which is already allowing customers to reserve PS3 and Wii games. GameSpot sat down with the executive, who could pass for a close relative of Keanu Reeves, to find out.
GameFly is the number one video game rental service. The rising price of games will likely force many gamers to reevaluate how they buy games. That, according to Sean Spector, is where GameFly will come in. The company’s cofounder is betting that the cost of the next-gen console war will be a boon for his rental service, which is already allowing customers to reserve PS3 and Wii games.
In many business circles, Gamefly is reffered to as the “Netflix for games” and rightly so.
In Sean’s words- “To be honest with you, all subscription businesses have churn, but that has never really been a big problem of ours. Once a gamer tries our service, they usually get hooked. We deliver a great service, in my mind. We deliver great value and convenience. It’s a great way to try games before you buy them. I think we’ll benefit in the long term from all these people coming in because of the economy and we’ll keep a lot of these customers. So I’m not overly concerned with the economy getting better and our business not doing well. I think that it will only help.”
Did I already mention that he looks like Keanu Reeves?
