Megan Frost is the founder of Cute Overload. Cute Overload is a weblog consisting of photos and videos of cute animals. It is consistently in Technorati’s Top 100 most popular weblogs and, according to Alexa Internet, it receives an average of 40,000 visits per day. Cute Overload won the Webby Awards 2006 “People’s Voice” honors in the blog category. It also won the 2007 Bloggies for Best American Weblog. Although she hasn’t got a pet herself, attracts 100,000s of visitors daily to her cute animal blog.
A jargon specific to Cute Overload has also developed over time, called the “cutecabulary,” which includes coined words in frequent usage, such as “Baroo?” commonly applied to an image of a dog tilting its head to either side, “snorgle” (snuggle) and “Kronsche” (crunch). Other words include: tocks (buttocks), puppeh (puppy), kittayns (kittens), kitteh (kitty). With one large photograph of an animal who’s an example of a particular “Rule of Cuteness” at the top of the page and dozens more in the grid below, all enhanced with smart, funny, edgy captions, every month sets a new record in cuteness.
Her Sayings- “By now, you should be able to get the calendar for under $10, and for that, it’s a fun little dose of daily cuteness and silliness to lighten your workdays. I also find it’s a neat conversation piece for coworkers who stop in (and few can resist flipping ahead to their birthday page). I just wish the calendar featured all-new cuteness each year.”
