Arun Sahlam, 31, is the co-founder of Carwale.com which is a website that empowers car buyers, sellers, and owners to make better decisions.

Before starting the carwale.com concept, he was Co-founder & CTO at Veracious Solutions Pvt Ltd. and Associate Software Engineer at Veritas Software India Pvt Ltd.

It was a long trying task for CarWale CEO Mohit Dubey and cofounders Arun Sahlam, Tufail Khan, and Gaurav Verma to build up a comprehensive automotive website to fulfill the needs of car consumers and to bring them more options in terms of choosing a car of they liked.

Arun and his team’s first assignment was to manage the pre-owned car inventory for a used-car dealer in Mumbai. “Nothing too complicated…” they thought to themselves. Their next move was to try to connect all the dealerships via a simple but effective web interface so that they could trade among themselves and serve customers with a better inventory. Unfortunately, no dealership used it, and that particular “failure” really hurt! Nevertheless, Arun and the rest of team picked themselves up, and tried again

The site they built this time, was one that gave a whole new buying experience to the new as well as used car consumers, these smart, hard working, persevering and farsighted entrepreneurs started CarWale.com, an online car research, buying, and selling website in October 2005.

CarWale provides content and tools for exhaustive research, pricing and marketplace information, and a very exhaustive car recommendation engine. Given the quality of the service it provides, it is no wonder it serves 1.3 million unique visitors every month.
