JOSH ABRAMSON
Networth: Unknown – But Very Wealthy
Abramson is a Co-Founder and President of collegehumor.com.
He said, “Because at the time the advertising market was pretty hot and we’d seen other people develop Web sites that were popular making a lot of money.” Their aim was to create a humor site that would appeal to the advertiser-friendly college-aged demographic.
CollegeHumor, along with its parent company, Connected Ventures, was acquired by Barry Diller’s InterActiveCorp in August 2006.
CollegeHumor.com was started in 1999 by Josh and Ricky, who grew up in a suburb of Baltimore called Timonium and have been friends since sixth grade.
“It’s not really a defined genre,” Abramson said when asked to describe the half-hour show.
Abramson said the original pilot episode for the CollegeHumor Show had used staff-produced Web content that was repackaged for television. At the time, the staff had been producing “Hardly Working,” a Web series of short videos.
The work environment at the CollegeHumor office is fun, Abramson said, and while employees work hard, they are all friends.
Today, Joshua David Abramson is now married to Gabrielle Borden Finley.
This is a typical success story which is all bout modelling success…almost like a copy and paste thing. They observed and realized that a few sites were making quite a bit of money from humor. They then decided to go with the flow, rather than go against it. Nothing to invent, nothing to convince others of, just a simple copy and paste of a working system.
